Poker Chip Weights

When it comes to poker chips there is are several choices for the weight of the chip. Before the poker boom, most people were using the plastic hoyle poker chips. Those are the ones that would interlock with each other and were only white, red and blue and weighed about 3g (grams) each. Not much choice when it came to poker chips.

That was then, this is now. Now most chips sold range between 8g and 15g. With the most common weight being the 11.5g poker chips. When the poker boom began in 2003 the 11.5g dice chips were everywhere. Then the 13.5g poker chips hit the market and the had clay material in them. Since then the 14g poker chips and 15g poker chips have become the heavy weights of the poker chip world.

A lot of people began to think that the heavier the chip is the higher the quality it is. That is not true, the heavier chips are heavier because the have metal inside of them. The more metal the heavier they are. If you want the real casino quality youneed to take a look at the 10g poker chips. 10g is the weight of casino chips.

The weight of a chip is just personal preference. So pick a chip that feels the best to you, has a look you like and fits in your budget. There is a lot of choices out there.

Hi,

Try to use light poker chips so that you can continue it for a long time. There are two types of poker chips-injection molded clay chips and compression molded clay. You can enjoy them with friends. Thanks a lot.
